Pacificolor Innovates With Miraclon Shine Lamp Kit BY GREG KISHBAUGH

Geostick Adds 8th Nilpeter Press

Geostick, Uithoorn, Netherlands, has ordered an FA-17 flexographic press from Nilpeter, equipped with six printing units and config- ured with the latest features including de/ relamination, a turnbar, hot air drying solu- tions, dual-diecutting, and a sheeter.

Flexographic packaging trade shop and early technology adopter Pacificolor is said tbe reaping production and sustainability benefits after upgrading from fluorescent exposure to LED technology with a Shine LED Lamp Kit, innovated by Miraclon. The Shine LED Lamp Kit is notable as a simple, low-cost route to the multiple benefits of LED exposure, necessitating just a straightforward, fast, retrofit upgrade to existing fluorescent exposure frames. According to Miraclon, LED lamps last longer than fluorescent tubes — 5000 hours compared to 800 hours — and do not degrade. LED exposures are consistent and up to 20 percent faster. Sustain-

The decision was made during a recent visit to Nilpeter in Denmark, where the Dutch family-owned printing company signed on for its eighth Nilpeter press. This new addition to the FA-Line is sched- uled for delivery before the onset of summer. ability is enhanced due to reduced waste, lower power consumption and lower disposal costs, said the manufacturer. Pacificolor was an early adopter of FLEXCEL NX Technology from Miraclon, and — to meet the demands of a growing client base — has upgraded imaging formats from narrow- to mid- and now wide-web. Pacificolor has also quickly leveraged the latest imaging technologies, including PureFlexo Printing, advanced plate surface patterning tech- nology from Miraclon, and screening technologies ProjectBlue and VORTEXTM, developed by Reproflex3, based in the UK. Founded in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1996 by CEO Tim Hirsch, Pacifi- color has evolved into a full-service pre-media supplier, and has grown into additional production facilities in Denver, Colorado, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Northampton, Massachusetts.
