Love of the Game Auctions Fall, 2018 Catalog

781 Beautiful 1972 Hall of Fame Multi-Signed Baseball - 25 Signatures (JSA) Extremely attractive Spalding Hall of Fame promotional baseball, signed by 25 members of the Hall. The ball was obtained at the 1972 induction ceremony by an Ohio resident and court judge in Akron who was a baseball fan; upon his passing the ball was passed along to our consignor, who we met in person at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland this summer. The ball is in outstanding condition, the signatures each applied boldly in black ink or fiber-tip marker. An extremely light coating of shellac has preserved the ball and its signatures. Twenty-five signatures are visible on the ball, each dark and legible, with virtually no fading, with the exception of Earle Combs, who signed in blue ink that has faded slightly. Included are Lou Boudreau, Ford Frick, Casey Stengel, Early Wynn, Sandy Koufax, Joe Medwick (ss), Chick Hafey (ss), Yogi Berra, Luke Appling, Lefty Gomez, Lloyd Waner, Harry Hooper, Lefty Grove, Waite Hoyt, Buck Leonard, Bill Dickey, Charles Gehringer, Rub Marquard, Frankie Frisch, Stan Coveleski, Sam Rice, Joe Cronin, Earle Combs, Jesse Haines, and Stan Musial.

Hall of Fame multi-signed baseballs are extremely interesting and early examples are quite desirable. The 1972 Hall of Fame induction included Sandy Koufax, Yogi Berra and Early Wynn - all three of whom appear on this ball, along with a host of other
