6 1895 N300 Mayo’s Cut Plug Cap Anson (HOF) - SGC EX/NM 6 Simply stated, Cap Anson is the key to any 19th Century issue. The most popular player of his era and the best-remembered today, his cards remain extremely desirable in any grade, from any issue. His 1895 Mayo’s Cut Plug card is one of his most attractive, depicting the subject in a clean, sharp portrait photo, “Chicago” emblazoned on his uniform breast. The card itself has graded EX/NM 6 by SGC, one of just six examples from the issue to grade at that level from either company, with just two higher. Two pronounced chips along the right edge account for the grade; given the tendency of these cards to exhibit significant chipping, it is but a minor flaw here. Corners are sharp, with a flawless image and centering well within the standards for the grade. A wonderful card, one of the finest known. MINIMUM BID: $2,500.00
