175 Beautiful 1912 Olympiska Spelens Jim Thorpe - PSA NM-MT 8 - Highest Graded Beautiful postcard of Olympian Jim Thorpe, one of the greatest of all American athletes, in his track and field uniform for the 1912 Olympics. In 1912, Thorpe competed in two Olympic events, the Pentathlon and the Decathlon. He won Gold Medals for both, and in addition to receiving the medals won two prizes which were donated by King Gustav of Sweden and Czar Nicholas II of Russia. When Thorpe was presented with his prize by King Gustav, Gustav told Thorpe “You, sir, are the greatest athlete in the world.” Thorpe famously responded “Thanks, King.” This spectacular postcard is the finest known example, graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. The only example graded at this level, none have graded close, with none higher than the EX level by either PSA or SGC. The postcard boasts a crisp image, sharp and square corners and edges with a clean reverse. Simply an outstanding postcard, the finest known example.
