This National Payroll Week, Kathryn Wright ACIPP, director of EMEA payroll and Aimee Wolfenden ACIPP, payroll operations manager , tell us all about the payroll academy launched at Fourth to attract fresh talent to the profession T he Fourth payroll operations team consists of qualified professionals, committed to delivering excellent excellent way to ensure full compliance and mitigate risks.
qualified trainers who start the training journey by delivering sessions on softer skills such as office etiquette, including: l phone and email management l dress code l professionalism l emotional intelligence. Then we move onto training on Fourth processes and best practice, before moving on to all payroll and pension legislation including payments, deductions, tax and National Insurance. We enrol our trainees onto the CIPP’s Payroll Technician Certificate (PTC) course, and work alongside its modules, which successfully complement our academy. We have a fully equipped training room at the office to provide face-to-face support and on-site training. We use recruitment methods such as recommend a friend, local community initiatives and our local college. This is to allow us to hire those looking for a fresh start and a successful career, potentially those who’ve just left college or individuals looking to change options mid-career. One of our most successful initiatives is our payroll academy and we want to share its success with Professional readers. The team was introduced to attract new recruits into the profession and to give the opportunity for career advancement in the payroll world. Our academy is a dedicated team which focusses on recruiting those new to payroll with the aim of creating more payroll professionals. Many of our trainees have stayed with us throughout the years and moved up the grades to become payroll specialists, payroll managers and beyond. Once our payroll trainees are onboarded, we have dedicated CIPP-
customer service and ensuring accurate payroll and pension processing. We’ve held our Payroll Assurance Scheme (PAS) accreditation since 2010, which demonstrates our commitment and dedication to ensuring compliance, accuracy and delivering the best service for our customers. We invest significant effort into managing our people and processes to ensure our team provides customers with the highest level of value and service possible and we’ll continue to do so.
