PAYROLL PETS
Modern life is incredibly busy. Combining work and home life can be a balancing act, and recently, we’ve all been exposed to considerable uncertainty. Pets can really help our mental well-being and help us find some solace and stability in difficult times. We asked you, the payroll professionals, to show us your pets.
Here are just a few of your wonderful furry and feathered friends...
Name: Murphy and Pixel Sent by: Caroline Burns, accountant, Revive “I thought I’d introduce you to Murphy (a Cavalier, aged 13) and Pixel (a Savannah cat, aged four). “As I work from home, they are my work buddies. Murphy provides background noise throughout the day (also known as snoring) and Pixel likes to intrude on Zoom meetings and help me with my work by walking across my keyboard!”
Name: Fifi and Milo Sent by: Liz Lay MSc FCIPP FHEA ACIPD, national finance and admin manager, Aldi UK “My doggies help with my well-being as they’re always pleased to see me when I get home from work. When I’m working from home, Fifi has a bed next to my desk as she has to be with me and be able to see where I am. Milo will keep coming in at points through the day to check we’re alright and have a fuss – he likes lots of cuddles. Fifi is good at distraction, as if she thinks you’re not OK, she goes into shivers, and you have to move your attention to her.”
Names: Ahri Sent by: Megan Cox ACIPP, operations manager, Cox & Co Payroll Solutions “Throughout the pandemic and numerous lockdowns, Ahri was always there to keep me calm and composed despite what was happening in the world. “She rapidly grew used to me working from home and often found her way onto Zoom calls, quickly becoming the talking point of the meeting. Her mellow nature keeps me grounded but her playful attitude always boosts morale on the busiest days. Ahri is a great payroll pet as she’s accustomed to pressing keys on my keyboard and assisting me with formulae and calculations.”
Names: Trevor Sent by: Trudy Bailey MCIPP, payroll manager, Arrow Electronics “This is Trevor, he’s a four-year-old British Bulldog who we adopted from a rescue shelter when he was a puppy. He’s definitey a payroll hound, as I talk him through all our processes. He also loves to get involved on any virtual meetings and screenbombs all the time! “He was fundamental to me during lockdown due to shielding guidelines and was a great help with my ‘fur-lough’ calculations!”
If you’ve submitted your payroll pet to us and they’re not included, you’ll see them in a future issue of Professional .
