The AES System is said to offer heavy duty perfor- mance in a compact footprint along with lower operating costs; through its use UN1F1ED 2 was actually able to re- ceive a rebate from its electrical utility. The scrap material travels through pneumatic con- veyance ducting by means of material handling fans to a 60,000 CFM AirShark separator before being deposited into an automatic baler. The system includes a dust collec- tor, as well. AES provided a turnkey equipment and installation package with professional project management. The scope of AES’ work included a full electrical control pack- age with touch screen interface, rigging and installation, integration of all equipment, piping and components, structural steel fabrication and erection, and start-up, com- missioning and training. The origins of UN1F1ED 2 date back to 1988 when Art Mahassel founded Atlas Box & Crating Co. in Sutton, Mas- sachusetts, dedicating the new company to producing custom crates. The company expanded into foam and corrugated products and it grew from its headquarters in Massachusetts to subsidiary plants in North Carolina and New Jersey, and continuing to expand overseas with facil- ities in Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic and China.
