Creative Sewing • AGES 6-9 Learn to sew using a machine in this introductory class! Participants will learn key basic skills including winding a bobbin, threading the machine and using the machine to sew something fun. We will make three different projects based on each participant's understanding and skill. We will not make any garments in this class. All materials are provided. Staff will give participants a 'dated' make-over complete with neon headband, colored hair spray, make-up and neon nail polish application. Decorate a neon bag with paints, jewels and stickers, and design a neon bracelet with an 80s-look charm. Our night will end with dancing to flashback hits and taking cool pics with props to remember this flashback evening. Each guest will take home a special surprise. This beginner class will instruct users on garment sewing basics including the importance of seams and seam allowances, how to read a pattern and best practices of cutting out the material. We also will discuss different fabrics that can be used for the project. The instructor will provide sewing patterns, thread, and any other notions. Students will need to bring fabric that suits their own personal style. Fabric isn't needed for first day of class; we will start with a small project to build skills and confidence. Bring your American Girl or any other similar sized doll to this unique Valentine activity. Enjoy decorating a special two-piece holiday outfit and adorable pink, red and white jewelry. Then take a trip to the beauty shop where you will add colorful clips and ribbons to your doll’s hair just in time for Valentine’s Day. Three to five-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult.
