We’re proud to announce that Gayle Cosby, a dedicated and innovative education program faculty member, has been selected to serve as our new Program Chair for Education! We hope you look forward to the new and exciting changes planned for our Education Program.
Corey Sims was one of thirty participants accepted into the Ivy Tech Leadership Academy for this academic year. The Leadership Academy is an amazing professional development opportunity for up- and-coming faculty to engage and collaborate with colleagues and mentors. This will help Corey to grow as a leader at Ivy Tech, and we’re so excited to see him excel!
Professor Gerald Maki was a proud recipient of the 2023 President’s Faculty Award as a representative faculty member of the Indianapolis campus. Gerald was chosen for his exceptional work and dedication to his students and the Ivy Tech Indianapolis Community. Please take a moment to congratulate him when you see him!
Long-time IVYT Adjunct Instructor Takes her Final Bow A decade and a half ago, Nicole Sears began teaching part time for the English Department under chair Vicki Buzash. Shortly thereafter, we were lucky enough to have Nicole teaching our IVYT students in various iterations of our class, from the now-defunct 3-credit-hour version (IVYT120) to now all versions of IVYT. Nicole has especially excelled at teaching the students in the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Applied Science (SAMEAS) who are majoring in areas such as automotive, HVAC, welding, etc. Needless to say, sometimes these students need a little more convincing about the benefits of IVYT’s focus on soft skills, such as emotional intelligence, self-awareness and personal responsibility. Nicole has tailored the class to meet their needs, made it fun and set them up for success. Nicole will be leaving us at the end of the semester to focus on her day-job teaching at the Excel Center. For the last 15 years, our students and our team have been fortunate to have Nicole as an instructor.
