Chasing the Dream

Life with Lana

Currently, Lana is working for Quinn Developments, having left Warde and Burke in order to ‘chase the dream’. Quinn Developments offered Lana the coveted machine (which has been affectionally named Lady Lana 2: Electric Boogaloo by our Managing Editor) after a conversation on LinkedIn turned into a job offer. But even with such a promise, it came with proper consideration. “I can’t tell you how many companies have made these big, sweeping promises and not delivered. I’ll be honest, it has my back up. Especially because I was so happy at Warde and Burke. I loved my team, and I miss them so much. It’s the first time I’ve felt really torn. Had I been offered my own machine when I was at any other job, I would have been a lot less hesitant. But I’d found something at Warde and Burke I’d not often found… a proper community. However, I knew all things must come to an end, and this project at Warde and Burke would not last much longer. I felt it was time to take another stab at getting my dream. “I had struggled to find work for a long time before Ward and Burke. I admit I am more selective about the jobs that I take, but rightly so. I think a lot of companies take their operators for granted, and I had spent a long time feeling that sting. So I knew I didn’t want that for myself again. But not simply putting up with bad behaviour left me out of work for a fair old while. Whether it was the age old ‘site hierarchy’ or a trail of broken promises, I never found anywhere I wanted to stay. Ward and Burke broke that cycle for me, and I’m so grateful for that. They just couldn’t offer me the one thing I truly wanted.”
