CIRCULAR ECONOMY ROUND-UP DECEMBER 2023 – ALL ABOUT ATTACHMENTS

In Industry Corner we get a closer look at the business and people that make this industry tick. And this time, we have a round-up of all the great companies and individuals we’ve had the privilege of talking with from past entries, along with checking out some of their sustainability and social practices - it is the theme of Circular Economy this issue, after all. So make yourself a cuppa, plate up a few biscuits, and settle in for a whirlwind tour of the greats!

In the first ever issue of Industry Corner, our Managing Editor Rebecca, visited three companies, all in the business of Attachments - no, not the emotional type - the clever bits of versatile machinery you stick on your movers. Though, their immense utility may leave you fond and quite… attached. ALBUTT ATTACHMENTS Albutt Attachments started from humble, agricultural beginnings and are now a world leader in their field. We chatted with Tom Worthington, General Manager, who emphasised their focus on quality and environmental consideration. “We’re continually investing in the plant and in the business for so many reasons. We put 115 kilowatt solar panels on the roof at the end of 2020 and that provides roughly a third of our electricity and keeps costs down. Like you say though, it’s also about having that accountability, staying sustainable and looking after the environment as well. I guess all goes back to the agricultural side of things; we’ve always done it and will always continue to do so. You’ve got to look after the world we’re in at the end of the day and as rural people we like to look after what’s around us, people and places alike.” Albutt is a wholly-owned family business specialising in manufacturing high specification attachments for the agricultural, waste, construction and forestry industries. The company’s ethos is to build up to a quality rather than down to a price, resulting in the Albutt brand becoming the ‘heavy duty’ option in this specialised industry. This is reflected in the high percentage usage of high tensile steels ‘Hardox’ & ‘Domex’ within the Albutt product range. To maintain service levels of its market leading product, Albutt operates a continual investment policy which over the last year has seen a second factory open and a brand new paint and surface preparation facility installed. The policy allows Albutt to keep pace with an ever-changing market place and continue to produce class leading products to a number of industries and applications.
