“I am extremely proud that Kappa invests so much into the community. Stories that I have shared are very com- mon themes and thoughts regarding our fraternity. My journey to success is a continuous introspective voyage filled with commitment, dedication and perseverance. My biggest challenge throughout the years have been compel- ling others to judge me solely based on the true value that I bring to the U. S. Army versus what is in front of them. What has worked for me over the years is possessing enormous competence and fostering a climate of dignity and respect for all. "I pride myself on demonstrating and executing the model of leadership for all people regardless of the color or pigmen- tation of one’s skin. I can’t say that has always been the case for me coming up through ranks. For example, earlier in my career as a very junior officer, one U. S. Army leader often referred to my peers (White lieutenants) by their first names and only referred to me by my rank. This is just one illustration of the individual bias that I received in a par- ticular U. S. Army unit. Over the years there have been overwhelming inclusion and acceptance of discrimination for no other reason than the color of my skin. The late great General Colin L. Powell was once quoted… “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work”. Every day I strive to be an example for others to follow through my hard work, dedication and servant leadership.” In terms of mentoring, Brother Hamilton stated, “I spend a significant amount of my time teaching, coaching and mentoring the next generation of

He also served as the Executive Officer to the Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics at the Pentagon, as an Assignment Officer in the Logistics Branch in the Office of the Army Chief of Staff and as the Execu- tive Officer to the Vice Director, Defense Logistics Agency. On three separate occasions, Lieutenant General Hamilton held commands in Afghanistan in sup- port of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2004, he was Commander, Defense Logistics Agency Contingency Support Team Afghanistan, and in 2010-2011, he was Commander, United States Forces- Afghanistan Support South/Southwest. In 2013-2014, he was the Commander of the 101 st Sustainment Brigade, 101 st Airborne Division. Lieutenant General Hamilton’s awards include the two Defense Su- perior Service Medals, four Legions of Merit, two Bronze Star Medals, three Defense Meritorious Service Medals, nine Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, seven Army Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, and OEF Campaign Awards. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Parachut- ist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Air Assault Badge, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge. In discussing his thoughts on leader- ship, he began by reflecting on Kappa Alpha Psi.

Army Senior Leader. Brother Hamilton is a Spring 1991 initi- ate of the Fort Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Lieutenant General Charles R. Hamilton enlisted in the U.S. Army from his hometown Houston, Texas. Upon completing basic and individual training, he was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas. He was commissioned as a Sec- ond Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps after attending Officer Candi- date School, where he was selected as the Distinguished Military Graduate. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Virginia State University and Masters’ Degrees in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and Military Stud- ies from Marine Corps University. He is also a graduate of a Senior Service Col- lege Fellowship – Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellows Program. Lieutenant General Hamilton assumed his duties as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 for the United States Army on 4 April 2022. His previous assignments include duties as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff-G4, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations- G-3 for United States Army Materiel
