cepted Christ as His Lord and Savior at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Granville Smith, Jr. Sherrod continued to excel and graduated with honors from Hamady High School where he played on the varsity basketball team. He earned a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State Uni- versity where he was initiated into the Michigan State University Chapter, the Delta Pi of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on May 25, 1984. While a student at Michigan State, Sherrod was a resi- dent assistance, active in black student government, intramural basketball and modeled in several fashion shows. Sherrod was employed by Ford Mo- tor Corporation as a supervisor for many years. He accepted an offer at Android Industries in Flint, Michigan as a super- visor for several years before transferring with the company to Arlington, Texas. Sherrod had a huge heart and would go out of his way to do anything for anyone. He loved his family and was a devoted and loving father and friend. He en- joyed life and interacting with people from all walks of life. He was known for being suave and debonair with a captivating personality, smile and infec- tious laughter. His attire and appear- ance were always on another level. He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and a die-hard Michigan State basketball and football fan. Most recently, he traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to support the Michigan State Univer- sity football team at the 2021 Pearch Bowl. Sherrod's last work as a member of the Fraternity was preparing to serve as a charter member and Lt. Strategus of the Frisco Alumni Chapter even though he transitioned immediately before the chartering ceremony was conducted. He also loved to grill, travel and workout daily. Brother Sherrod F. Johnson was pro- ceeded in death by his loving parents; brothers Curtis Johnson, Sr. Charles Johnson, Sr., Smith Johnson, Jr., Smitty Tyrone Johnson and sister Betty Jean Foote. He is survived by his precious and loving children Aarien of Lansing,

paraprofessional for a preschool class in the same district before eventually retiring with his wife in Fredericksburg, VA. In Fredericksburg, he and his wife became members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Robert became active as a member of the Fredericksburg (VA) Alumni Chapter. In 2012, Johnson returned to St. Helena Island, SC. He was a charter member of the Beaufort-Jasper-Hilton Head (SC) Alumni Chapter, where he could continue his fellowship a few times virtually while out of state. He spent the last fifteen months of his life at the residence of his daughter, Dena, and her family in Lawrenceville, GA as his health declined. Brother Robert Johnson is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ann, siblings, Robbie Bolles, Annie “Willie Mae” Coy, Glara Ricks, Jack Johnson, Jr., and Ezekiel Johnson. He is sur- vived by his sons, Theryon (Caraliss) Sampson, Terry and Darryl Johnson; daughters, Gail (Herbert) Graves, Sheryl Forte, and Dena Moore (Russell) John- son; grandsons, Timothy and Nicholas Graves, Dane, Royce, Korey, and Russell Johnson, Theryon Sampson, Jr., Kenneth Nichols, Jared Moore, and Bryce Forte; granddaughters, Shannon and Brandi Graves and Nia Moore; great-grandsons, Zion and Zane Brooks; his siblings, Ruth Archer, Eddie Johnson, and Julia Ealy of Lowell, MA; and a host of relatives, close friends, and caregivers. Sherrod Johnson 1964-2022 Educator, U.S. Civil Servant, U.S. Army Sherrod F. Johnson (Delta Pi 1984) entered the Chapter Invisible on February 21, 2022 at the age of 57 as a result of injuries sustained during a traffic accident in Tyler, Texas. Sher- rod Fitzgerald Johnson was born March 8, 1964 in Flint, Michigan to Smith Johnson, Sr. and Willie B. (Jones) John- son who proceeded him in death. As a child, Sherrod was academically gifted and was placed in the gifted program at Walker Elementary School. He ac-

Melvin D. Jordan 1956-2021 Systems Analyst

Melvin D. Jordan (Springfield (IL) AL1986) en- tered the Chapter Invisible on Mon- day, September 6, 2021.He was born on Septem- ber 7, 1956, in Murphysboro, IL,

the son of Edward Jordan, Sr. and Alma (née Johnson) Jordan. He graduated from Murphysboro High School. He continued to be active in the community of Murphysboro by once serving as the parade Grand Marshall for the Apple Festival and dreamed of one day being the Mayor of Murphysboro. Jordan attended college and played football at Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS. Jordan retired from the Illinois State Board of Education as a Computer Programmer after 34 years. He believed education was imperative and took the time to introduce students to the possi- bility of higher education. He served as a classroom parent and a member of the Springfield School District #186 Real Men Read program. Jordan also coached and mentored football players at Springfield High School and Lanphier High School and was a Cy Young Little League coach for several years. As a very active mem-
