CERIDIAN FOREWORD

Payroll is one of an employer’s most important activities and for many businesses it’s their largest cost. However, rather unfortunately, quite often the process is fraught with inefficiencies. Manual entries are error-prone while employees’ expectations are rising and workforces are becoming geographically more dispersed, increasing complexity. On top of this, keeping abreast of emerging compliance and legal issues is resource-intensive. These pressures will shape how payroll will evolve in the future, moving from a service to a more strategic business function that can add value. Technology-driven innovation will play an ever- increasing role in this fundamental shift. To their enormous credit, the CIPP has been pro-actively highlighting the strategic impact that the payroll function can have on businesses, and in this software guide we hope you’ll learn a lot about the wide range of technologies to support business objectives. And you won’t be the only one going through this process. Ceridian’s own research tells us that the payroll industry in the UK is undergoing a technology refresh. Findings from the UK Payroll Technology Report indicated that 72% of respondents were actively evaluating new applications to manage this critical people process. Initiating a payroll transformation project can be a daunting experience, but by spending time reading this guide you are already taking a step in the right direction. As sponsors of the guide, I hope you spend some time examining Ceridian’s world-class Human Capital Management (HCM) technology, Dayforce.
