“One of the most important things for me in photography is the feeling – I want my images to expand the idea of the documentation“
After my studies, I began freelance photography and it’s been a very bumpy ride coming face to face with the fact that the fashion industry has some very dark sides to it, which I don’t want to be a part of. I never abandoned my values – whatever I do, I need to always do it with respect and love towards nature. So, I’ve forged my own path in this industry by choosing to work with sustainable and inclusive brands that are mindful of the message they put out there for the world. I’m so lucky to have met incredible designers, who appreciate the rhythms of nature and create clothes or jewellery that are not only meaningful but also long-lasting and of high-quality. Often, I work with brands inspired by our beautiful Mother Earth and this is when my inner child is happiest. I cannot finish this story without sharing one of the most problematic parts of fashion photography. The fashion industry is responsible for how they portray women and what kind of message it puts out. Having struggled with eating disorders for half of my life, it pains me to see what kind of impact the fashion industry holds for women of all ages. Over 90% of women I’ve met have been unhappy with how they look and tried to change their appearance. I’m sick and tired of hearing how a woman should change herself to be younger, skinnier, more this or whatever this sick patriarchal society invents next for women. As a fashion photographer, I’m trying my best to create a change, however small it is in this industry.
