EcoFOCI: The Next Generation Presenter: Heather Tabisola , hnmac@uw.edu, Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean and Ecosystem Studies Phyllis Sabeno , phyllis.stabeno@noaa.gov, NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory The (Eco)FOCI program was established in 1984 to examine the physical and biological factors that affect the pollock fishery in Alaska. Since that time, the program has evolved to meet emerging scientific questions and needs of NOAA, stakeholders, and communities. EcoFOCI uses a variety of observing tools, including research vessels and mooring arrays and continues to integrate new technology. The program’s advances in marine science have provided contextual information to enable direct and effective management and sustainable use of fisheries resources especially in the Bering Sea. EcoFOCI continues to examine ocean trends related to changing ecosystems and climate and address critical topics for resource managers in this rapidly evolving system. As the program looks ahead to the next generation of ocean observing, with rising costs and limited resources, we must make observations more effective and leverage expertise. We wish to leverage the AMSS community to provide feedback on select research efforts and find new collaborators, partners, and/or user groups. Using Tabisola et al. (2021), this interactive poster will solicit suggestions and feedback regarding the next generation of EcoFOCI biophysical moorings and observatories. Long-term monitoring and data collection have provided foundational knowledge and context for understanding how climate change impacts Alaska marine ecosystems.

We will ask guests to interact with the poster in several ways - through stickers on-site and through a QR code for a more detailed Google Jamboard and Forms. Questions will focus on three key areas:

1. Currently maintained biophysical mooring locations;

2. Data collected and derived Information; and

3. User groups.
