Statewide | Fishes and Fish Habitats
A collaborative approach to conserving essential fish habitat Presenter: Stefanie Coxe , stefanie.coxe@noaa.gov, National Marine Fisheries Service
Conserving and protecting essential fish habitat, which includes fish and the aquatic habitat they use to survive and reproduce, is essential for supporting productive and sustainable fisheries. NOAA Fisheries Habitat Conservation Division in Alaska works alongside other federal agencies via consultations and early coordination to recommend best management practices to avoid, minimize, or mitigate project related environmental impacts. Tools used to perform these consultations, methods of communication between agencies, as well as a look at the past and future impacts and outcomes of this work on Alaskan EFH will be explored.
