Mario Aimetti graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 1987 from the University of Turin, specializing in Odontostomatology in 1990 and in Maxillofacial Surgery in 1995 at the same University.
From 1985 to 1998 he gained experience at the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the University of Turin, acquiring specific experience in the field of oral surgery and reconstructive surgery of the jaw bones.

Since 2007 he has been Director of the Master in Periodontology at the University of Turin. In recent years, Turin Periodontology has become an international reference university center and, since 2107, it is part of the current 21 academic centers in the world accredited by the most important international periodontal institution (European Federation of Periodontology: EFP).
His professional activity for over 30 years has been exclusively aimed at the surgical treatment of the oral district and for over 20 years at the treatment of patients suffering from periodontitis.

Since 2007 he has been Head of the Periodontology Department relating to the complex structure of “Oral Rehabilitation, Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Dental Implantology U” at the AOU Città della Salute e della Scienza of Turin.
Since 2006 he has been Manager and Coordinator of the Piedmont reference center for the treatment and therapy of halitosis at the Periodontology Department.

Since 2002 he has been an Active Member of the Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SIdP) of which he was Vice President in the two-year period 2014-2015 and President in the two-year period 2018-2019.
He is a member of the European Federation of Periodontology and of the American Academy of Osseointegration. Since 2020 he has been President of the SIdP Onlus Foundation.
