of the physical realm, what wonderful things would he accomplished f o r Christ. Scripture enjoins us to train up our children in the way they should go so that when they are old they will not depart from it.

POINTING THE WAY If you have done any amount of driving this past summer during vaca tions, you’ve probably been profoundly thankful for road maps. Gasoline com panies spend millions of dollars every year just trying to keep their custom ers on the right roads. Some of the maps given out free cost as much as $100,000 just to get them ready to be published. That’s not counting the price for printing. Maps have to be kept up to date with the latest road changes, freeway developments and other per tinent information. Some of the larger oil firms may provide as many as 200 different maps for cities and states all over the country. Think of the money, time, and effort weary travelers are saved, because of the cartographer’s efforts. A careful motorist will know what route to follow in order to get to his destination. Listen to what the Bible has to say on this subject, “The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way.” When you get right down to it, we’re all travelers on the highway of life. It’s a tragic fact that for many there is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can assure our hearts, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.” There may be any number of ways to get to your city but there aren’t even two ways to get to God and heaven. There is only the one, and that’s through faith in Jesus Christ. The Sav iour is the only one who makes move ment from earth to heaven possible. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

Religion is simply a cloak used by some people in this world who’ll be warm enough without one in the next.

TREASURES OF HEALTH . It’s always sad to see men in their prime struck down in the midst of their years with some dread illness or mal ady. Ofttimes disease captures the body without any warning. Of course, some times we may act foolishly, disregard ing the importance of physical health. God has entrusted these bodies to us as the dwelling places of the Holy Spirit. The Bible indicates that the Lord is actually tabernacled, living within those who by faith have accept ed Jesus Christ as Saviour. “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God? Ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price, therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God’s.” There is a familiar little poem which states, There was a man in our town, And he had wondrous health, But recklessly he squandered it, Accumulating wealth. And when he found his health was gone, With all his might and main He squandered all the wealth he’d won To get his health again. And when with neither health nor wealth, He in his coffin lay; The preacher couldn’t say a thing Except, “Let us pray.”

Some men who boast of their being self made must look pitiful in the eyes of God.

The trouble with patience may be that the more a person has, the more other people want to use it.
