SIGNAL MAINTENANCE SUMMARY OF SERVICES
The maintenance of a safe and efficient traffic signal system is an important responsibility to the motoring public. The Signal Maintenance Division provides for the operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of the City's traffic signal system. Specific services include the review of City traffic signal design guidelines and standards; response to resident concerns regarding signal operations and implementation of corrective measures when appropriate.
Accomplishments
Successfully converted 25 existing traffic surveillance cameras from analog to digital improving performance lifespan, clarity and controllability. This effort also reduced equipment and maintenance costs in the future. Converted over 90% of traffic signal controllers to an advanced traffic management system (Centracs) enabling the city to implement smart and coordinated signal timing systems. Relocated the traffic network servers to a more secured and centrally located in the Civic Center enabling additional physical environment conditioning, fire protection and network firewall features.
