Fund 111: GAS TAX FUND The City receives Gas Tax funds from Sections 2103, 2105, 2106, 2107, and 2107.5 of the Streets and Highways Code. State law requires these funds be utilized solely for street-related purposes such as new street construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance. In FY 2019-20 and FY 2020-21 approximately, $5.5 million is appropriated annually for ongoing repair and maintenance of asphalt roadways, repair of traffic signs, street markings and striping, and support of the annual street landscape maintenance contracts. Specific capital projects for street and traffic signal improvements and rehabilitation endeavors are identified in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget. In FY 2019-20, $3.8 million is appropriated towards various new and existing projects, some of the larger projects are: $2.0 million for Slurry Seal and Local Street Rehabilitation and $0.7 million for Campus Drive Rehabilitation from University Drive to Carlson. For FY 2020-21, $1.4 million is appropriated for Slurry Seal and Local Street Rehabilitation. In FY 2018-19, $3.4 million of the reserved Fund Balance reserved for the Marine Way Project was transferred to Assigned Fund Balance for future roadway related efforts. In return, the Systems Development Fund (SDC) fund reserved $3.4 million of its circulation fund balance for the Marine Way Project, maintaining the future funding for the Marine Way project.
