Hospitality Review - December 2021

With staffing being the main issue faced by all regions, programs have already been put in place. We know venues need staff now for summer and will need more as the industry rebuilds, and support in this area so far includes: • A jobs portal housing all tourism and hospitality jobs, which is being managed by VXT (www.tastourismandhospitalityjobs.com.au). This is for venues to display and manage jobs, as well as job seekers to upload resumes. • SearsonBuck have launched Shift Sharer, a program designed to offer additional shifts to those working in the industry. • Roger from our Workforce Development program has been attending Job Fairs, working with schools, and holding showcase events for UTAS international students to encourage people to look to hospitality jobs for this summer. We know this won’t solve the staffing problems, however each program we undertake hopefully will attract more people to the industry and puts a career in hospitality at the forefront of job seekers’ minds. As we put another turbulent year behind us, we look forward to rolling out other programs to address the challenges faced by industry, working with government and partners to support industry and working with venues to provide solutions to their individual problems. As we lead into the summer period we hope venues have the opportunity to prosper and we hope to see you on our various Tour of Tasmania trips in 2022.
