THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NESS Class. The lesson was on “ Salvation” and, led by the Spirit, the teacher had made it especially simple and definite, and reference after reference was given, followed by an earnest prayer that the class might be not only hearers hut doers of the Word. Afterwards this particular woman was leaving rather hastily ,but— leaving many unspoken to — the teacher was led to ask her if she had accepted this Saviour for herself. After a few minutes’ conversation, she made her decision for Him. The next morning took her away to a new em ployment, making her residence in a new part of the city necessary, but God’s hand had been laid upon her and definite prayer is being offered that her life may indeed be sheltered under the blood, hid with Christ in God. She was only nine years old,— an ir repressible, curly-headed Irish Catholic child, who had been taken from a con vent to a home that was soon after raided, and thence to a Detention Home. The story of the Cross came to her in a new light, and even before the Bible Woman came to a pause, she sprang to her feet, her little face all aglow, her blue eyes filled with tears, exclaiming, “ Can I love Jesus too, like big folks?” And then, after a moment, “ Can I go to His home when I die?” Poor little lamb! She had been taught that “ if you don’t be very good and do good deeds, you will have to go way, way down to the hot place and eat wood and coal, and have snakes’ tongues coming out of your mouth!’,’ How gladly, in Jesus’ Name, we told her the story and “ signed her up” in the Pocket Testament League,— and how joyfully and gladly the little one made her decision for the Lord Jesus Christ by writing her name in place of the word “ whosoever” in John 3:16. Most marked was the effect of this incident upon the group of older and more hardened girls who were listen ing and watching, at first, almost in derision, then in wonder, which at last gave place to questioning interest. So the Holy Spirit works,v—we know not how; we dream not in what unlike ly places. A former member of one of our Bible classes writes back for prayer and suggestions about teaching, saying: “ I could never have attempted it in Los Angeles, but people have so little where I am now. Two or three came to my

room for help in the Word, and then others followed, till the room was filled, and I found myself teaching the Gos pel of John which I had so recently studied under you.” So, in our classes, we never know how the Word may be taken far and wide. MRS. T. C. HORTON, Superintendent. The Appeal to Working Men God has been very gracious to us in the past month, and has given us a number of precious souls for our hire. As we have gone into the shops, fac tories, car barns and en- SHOP gine houses, it has been WORK borne in upon us time and again, how much good the work done by our Brother Cant (who labored in this department five years) has meant. He sowed constantly the seed which is bearing and will con tinue to bear fruit through the days to come. Pray with us that as we sow the seed, water it, and harvest it, all the glory may be given to Him. At one of the shops after giving the message to the men, the worker was led to speak to one of the men, who said: “ I can hardly sit‘ still when you men have your meetings here, and when you commence to talk.” God had been speaking to him, and after showing him how to accept Christ as his own personal Saviour, he then and there took his stand for H'm. . Pray for him that God may richly bless and use him. In another one of our shops, at the close of a message, a big fellow came up, put his hand in ours and said, “ You have the right stuff.” In reply, the writer said, “ Then why do you keep Jesus out of your heart and life; why don’t you accept Him as your personal Saviour?” To this he replied: “ It is the right thing to do, and I will.” “ When?” we asked. After a few more words, he again grasped our hand and said. with tears in his eyes, "NOW!” Oh, how our hearts rejoice as these souls are added to the Kingdom of our Lord and Master! MARION H. REYNOLDS, Superintendent. The Santa Barbara Campaign The evangelistic campaign at Santa Barbara was held under the auspices of the First Baptist Church. A large wooden Tabernacle seating about 700,
