who came out were convicted, the con viction was not so deep as one would like. It is wonderful what small be ginnings Grace has in some hearts, so we must not despise the day of small things. We held open air meetings night after night. We got the men to bring their autos to the Tabernacle, we filled them with men and while the women stayed and prayed, would hold five or six meetings ievery night before the service commenced. "We never went near the main streets, but stopped in the center of blocks where the people lived. Brillhart would sound out his horn and then we would all sing a verse or two and some of the men would give their testimony or a short message. This seemed to do more to make people mad than anything else. You see if we had gone to the “ down- and-outs” it would have been all right, but to go to the “ up-and- outs” and hold an open air meeting on their street, was like an insult, for they felt that living in such nice homes as they did, they did not need any such meth od or message. They would turn the lights out and shut the doors and try and keep out the sounds, hut their homes are mostly wooden and the walls are very thin, so our voices got through in spite of them and they had to hear the Word of the Lord. I don’t know whether any of them received any bless ing, hut I do know that it did us all good and made us feel good. The Sunday services were always crowded, morning, afternoon and eve ning. We had the joy of seeing many come out for the Lord every Sunday. Some things have come in to my life in the Lord’s work that I have never been able to understand or explain. I am waiting for that day when all these things will be made clear to me. This campaign is one of them— a campaign where there was so much of prayer and hard work, and yet where there was so little, comparatively, to show for it all. It is the .Lord’s work, so it is not for us to dictate to Him how the work should he done , or what results we should have. It is ours to be true and believing, and keep smiling and believ ing and working harder than ever to get what we can out of the wreck of this old bankrupt age that is drawing so near to a close. We are now hard at it in the Church of the Redeemer in Los Angeles. We will he there until November 23 (DV).

members of the church in the evenings after their day’s work was done. They came right to the Tabernacle in the evenings and the women of the church had their supper ready for them. This saved them going home and gave them more time for the work. It was no com mon wooden building. They believed in putting up something that would look well, as well as be serviceable for the work of winning souls and reviving the church. It was a big venture for one church to undertake alone, hut the peo ple there in that church believe in big things for the Lord and the church. Their pastor is a Bible preacher and preaches the Word without fear or fa vor, and so had gathered around him a red-hot band of people who love the Word and are eager for the souls of men. Santa Barbara is noted for its cli mate and beauty and wealthy homes, but not for its piety or revivals. It has been the graveyard of many an evangelistic campaign, hut the first meeting in the*Tabernacle was one of promise and the hopes and faith of the church were high. The feeling of the 'meeting was good and the people were delighted and looked forward with expectancy. Well! We had a big and good time, hut not in the way we thought or would have liked. The numbers increased night by night and so did the opposition and the power of the devil. We had a day of fasting and prayer. The minister and several of us went up one of the hills and spent the day fasting and praying there. What a time we had! “Heaven came down our souls to greet and glory crowned the mercy seat.” We had half-nights of prayer, where a large number of peo ple gathered and prayed for the meet ings. Sometimes we felt as if we would die if the Lord did not come to our help and give us the souls we were praying for. I have rarely conducted a campaign where so much prayer was offered, and such earnest believing prayers too. The campaign was horn in prayer and carried through in prayer. In spite of all this, we never had what one likes to see in a campaign,— the BREAK. We had some wonderful meetings and many came out for Christ, but it was hard work, and while those
