let? Nowhere in the Bible can I find where our hearts are spoken of as being black with sin. I know the devil is called the prince of darkness but not blackness.” A. God has wonderfully used this means of teaching the hearts of chil dren. It is true that the Bible doesn’t state in so many words that our hearts are black with sin. It seems a rather small point of distinction for darkness is blackness. In Jude the two are put together. That our sins are as scarlet is found in Isaiah 1 :18. This doesn’t say our sins are scarlet; it is simply a figure of speech. The important thing is the cleansing so vitally necessary. Don’t overlook the verse that explains, “Men love dark ness rather than light because their deeds are evil.” This is definitely a correct and a black picture. Regard less of what color sin is, praise God there is salvation through Jesus Christ. Q. Taunton, Mass. — “Listening to your program, one of your girls who testified she was going to the mission field also said she planned to get married. This is not right for she can’t serve two masters and be happy." A. We would most thoroughly dis agree with this notion. There is nothing out of harmony with mar riage and the mission field. Many of our students have followed this ex ample through the years, and the Lord has greatly blessed their lives.
Q. Kansas City, Mo. — “I ’m trying to find Christ real enough in my life to turn loose from worldliness and take hold. I think I have it in m.y head but not in my heart. Can you help me to find and live Christ in my life obediently and get the strength and will power to turn away from sin ?” A. This is the •kind of a letter we appreciate for it comes from a bur dened heart. Actually this should be the prayer of each one of us. We all need to “turn loose from worldli ness, taking hold of the Lord.” The most important thing is to make sure that we have accepted Christ as our personal Saviour. Then the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within our hearts. Keep in mind that we have just as much of the Holy Spirit at conversion as we ever will have. The difference comes as we grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord. The Holy Spirit is then getting more and more of us. This is the process of sanctification. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.” The secret of victory is keeping our minds and our hearts on the Lord Jesus Christ. Concentrate on Him rather than on all of the allurements of the world. Romans 12:1-2 points out that it is consecration which is needed in our lives. Q. Ashton, Neb. — “In Child Evan gelism and the teaching of the Word less Book they say that sins are black. Aren’t sins referred to as scar: 18
