The differences in the quantities of materials used in the vineyard over the course of different years demon- strate the capability of Guido Berlucchi to employ different resources based on the year-to-year variability of climatic, soil and vine conditions.

MATERIALS USED FOR VINIFICATION
88 % FSC-certified corks
100 % recovery of bidules and caps
7 % lighter bottles than standard weight
The main material used in winemaking is grapes, either grown directly or purchased from partner winegrow- ers who undergo strict quality control and comply with environmental and social aspects (see the Berlucchi Sustainable Viticulture Protocol). Occasionally, a small portion of wine suitable for Franciacorta is also pur- chased to supplement the quantities when the harvest is smaller. Sucrose is used both in the second fermen- tation stage (bottling) and in the disgorging stage for the production of dosage syrup.
Much of the wine purchased comes from Agricola della Franciacorta, an associate company under our direct control.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an internationally recognised forest certification system that ensures responsible and controlled management of cork forests.
We recognise that our efforts to limit the environmental impact of the production process include carefully selecting the materials used in the production process to ensure maximum circularity. All materials used in cultivating the vineyard and in production are totally consumed, with the exception of the waste from the grape pressing, the marc, which is given to a local distillery that purchases it as raw material for its own production.
The bidules, the plastic part under the 'crown cap', which is made of 100% low-density polyethylene, and the crown caps, made of 76% aluminium and 23% plastic pellets, are all recovered. After disgorging, they are separated by a special sieve and sent to specialist companies for recycling.
