Sadie… A sassy white spark with a heart too big for such a small body. You acted fearless like nothing could touch you but always chose my side, always knew where home was. You filled the quiet without trying. Your foot- steps, your sighs, like the way you claimed space like it had always been yours. I loved you in ways I didn’t realize were sacred; the routines, the calling of your name, the comfort of knowing you were just there. Now I say “Sadie” and the room doesn’t answer. My hands remember you even when you’re gone. Grief is just love with nowhere to land. You took pieces of my days with you...the snugs, the routines, and the version of me who always had you. But, even now, you exist in everything I do, softly, in every memory that hurts because it mattered.
