Create Curb Appeal - Susan Matthews

The front door hints at what is inside. You want it to send the right message.

Over the years, I've seen too many dirty, cobweb- covered, paint-chipped, faded, and scuffed-up doors. Buyers start on the wrong foot when entering doors that stick or have broken parts. They conclude the house hasn't been well-maintained. Decisions made in those first crucial moments are difficult to reverse.

1. Upgrade Dated Door Hardware Hardware is the focal and touch point of most doors; cheap doorknobs, knockers, and doorbells downgrade even the nicest door. Invest in quality and raise the value.

2. Buy a New Doormat Welcome buyers with a fresh and classic doormat.

3. Paint The Front Door Studies prove that the right front door color increases offer amounts. Ask your Realtor for help choosing one that works with your house and has mass appeal.
