there were two of them. Archaeology points out that the Old Testament Jericho was not of the same sight as the New Testament Jericho. So our Lord was properly going out of one and entering into the other. Both passages are of course correct. Q. Kansas City, Mo. — “I have often wondered about the Jews in all of these years who have not accepted Christ. Will they be saved by just believing in God? Also, do you think it biblical to teach that there are two or even three Isaiahs? I certainly can’t agree." A. First of all, there is only one way by which a person is saved, and that is by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Any Jews who have not accepted the Saviour are just as lost as the Gen tiles who have not accepted Him. The Jews have the same opportunity as anyone else. In a coming age, the nation will be saved, but this is not on an individual basis (Rom. 9-11). We do not believe that Isaiah was written by more than one person. Those who put forth this erroneous theory are the same ones who declare that Moses didn’t write the Penta teuch. We repudiate such teaching which comes from modernistic, lib eral, Bible-disbelieving individuals. All 66 chapters were written by that great prophet, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Q. Boise, Ida. — “It was asked of me by a Jewish friend as to why God sent the black plague upon the earth immediately after the Old Testament was completed?" A. We have never heard such a state ment before. There is absolutely no historical support to any such idea whatsoever. Since the Pentateuch is dated 1450-1410 B.C. and Malachi, the last book in the O.T., was written in the 5th century B.C., what rela tionship could this have with the
“Black Death” as it was called, which raged in Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries A.D. with outbreaks occurring in Asia into the 16th and 17th eenturies? Q. Walla Walla, Wash. — “What does the World Council of Churches do for the churches, or what does it stand for? I know Jesus as my personal Saviour, and I can’t compromise.” A. We believe that the N.C.C. and the W.C.C. are very detrimental forces to any chureh. The effort is always on downgrading the Scrip ture, as well as undermining all of the great cardinal truths of the Word of God. The World Council has made some very serious accusations against the United States in an effort at a one-world ecumenical movement. At their recent convention the Marxian philosophy became a strong keynote, even in the denunciation of our coun try. Dr. Sutherland has written some very excellent articles on this subject in his editorials appearing monthly in The King’s Business magazine. Q. Bakersfield, Calif .— “Should Chris tians take an active part in political campaigns, and if so, what Scripture could one use for such a stand?” A. When one considers how large a part of the world there is where peo ple have no say at all in their govern ment, we see the wonderful oppor tunity we have in our God-blessed land. That doesn’t mean crusading around the country, but we should certainly speak up for righteousness and exercise the privilege of voting. One of the best Scriptures for this is Jeremiah 29:7. Some people have a very strange view. They think that just because they are going to heav en ultimately that the Lord somehow wants them to live in a miniature perdition now. The Bible says we are to strive for righteousness. If there
