Paul does not teach that this is a rapture of the spiritual victorious but it is for all believers in Christ and they will all share in the sum mons. Actually the word “rapture”-comes from the Latin rapere which means to snatch away violently. Its Greek counterpart is harpadzo, to seize by force. At the shout of the Lord, masses (the definite article does not appear with the word clouds) of be lievers are caught up to meet the Lord in the air. To meet the Lord (Greek, apantesiri) is to meet Him face to face. It is a word used of a newly-arrived dignitary, a welcome extended to a very great person. The meeting will be in the air (Greek, aer) and points us to the fact that our Lord ascend^ into our own atmosphere — the same word is used in Ephesians 2:2 and Acts 22: 23. We are to comfort one another with these words. It was D. L. Moody who said, “I have felt like working three times as hard for Jesus Christ since I came to understand that my Lord may be coming soon.”___________ _______ THE COM ING OF THE KING OF KINGS In His glory Christ is coming, Coming to receive His own; Every eye shall then behold Him, Every knee before Him bow!
