roadway. These items include signage and ventilation equipment which also need to be accounted for in the 17.5-foot clearance envelope.

Accommodating adequate signage will be crucial for maintaining the operations of the Downtown Connector. Major Interstate access points are located to the north and south of the project limits, with the split of I-75 & I-85 located 1.5 miles to the north of the Stitch and the ramps to I-20 located only a mile south of the project. An additional eight service exit ramps providing access to downtown, and midtown are located between these points, which also require signage within the Stitch project limits. These access points are currently signed with large overhead sign structures which also must meet the 17.5-foot clearance envelope. To implement a bridge cap over the Downtown Connector, the Stitch will need to replace these overhead signs with new signage which are compliant with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and which meet the minimum 17.5- foot clearance requirements over the travel lanes.
