Connector, may be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. A corner of the building is less than six feet from an existing retaining wall of the Downtown Connector and more than half of the building is located above the tie-back anchors for the retaining wall. A GDOT subsurface construction and maintenance easement also exists under the building. The proximity of the wall to the building and the wall being supported by tie-back anchors which are under the building’s foundations present a significant challenge to constructing abutments for the proposed cap structure. Due to the lack of space between the wall and the building, installing shoring and new abutment foundation construction behind the existing wall will be very challenging. Any abutment construction behind the existing retaining wall is likely to have impacts to the building or foundations. Further evaluation of this location will be needed in the design phase.
