CUT-THROUGH RATES
FROM THE I-75/I-85 DOWNTOWN CONNECTOR There are two types of “cut-through” trips between the local street network and the I- 75/I-85 Downtown Connector in the study area. First, there are Downtown Connector trips that, due to traffic on the freeway or similar rationale, exit the Downtown Connector for a short distance and re-enter past the slower area. These trips do not include those with stops in the study area or other reasons for exiting/re-entering. It should be noted that trips with very brief stops in the study area, such as ride-share trips or commercial deliveries, that also follow the entrance and exit route of the analysis may be captured as “cut-through” trips. Given the low average trip circuity, the ratio of traveled distance to Euclidian map distance, it is unlikely many vehicles are entering and exiting the network consistent with origin and destinations zones while also diverting from the study area to make additional stops. The analysis included all trips within the collection dates all day long across the middle weekdays: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
