FROM LOCAL STREETS The second kind of cut-through trips are short trips (under 5 miles) primarily on the local roadways that utilize the I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector for a short distance in order to complete a faster or more direct trip. Although a lack of surface street connections across the Downtown Connector makes these trips desirable to drivers, short trips belong on local streets or potentially as another mode. The rate of these trips is demonstrated in the “Trip Length (Distance)” section.

POTENTIAL TRIP CHANGE

VOLUME RELOCATION Cut-through trips from the I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector that currently utilize local streets are primarily northbound and southbound routes. Short trips that utilize the Downtown Connector should instead travel on northbound and southbound surface streets. To find most utilized northbound and southbound local segments to reallocate cut-through and short trips off and onto, a Top Routes between Origins and Destinations analysis was performed. Distribution of traffic from this analysis calculated the rates of reallocation from and to each local roadway. For northbound
