In addition to R2, Percentage of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) for links where traffic counts were observed were calculated using the following formula:

Where Ci, Vi, and N are as defined for the calculation of the correlation coefficient. Table C.1 below indicates the Percentage of RMSE for all links with observed counts within the validation subarea. RMSE measures the deviation between the assigned traffic volumes and the counted traffic volumes. If the RMSE is small, it indicates that there is a small deviation between the assigned and counted traffic volumes. If the RMSE is large, it indicates that there is a large deviation between the assigned and counted traffic volumes. The count groups and total counts for this model are within the targeted RMSE established by GDOT.
