HOW WAS THE ACCREDITING ASSOCIATION OF BIBLE COLLEGES STARTED?
RESPONSE:
I assumed the position of Dean of Biola in 1942. In 1943, we held the annual Torrey Memorial Bible Conference. One of the speakers was Dr. Walter Wilson, then President of Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri. He came to visit me one afternoon in my office to talk about various things. I said to him at that time, "Dr. Wilson, why don't you get the school Presidents and the Bible school Deans together and form an accrediting organization, so that we can upgrade the academic standards of the whole Bible School movement?"
