including office staff, and all the place was packed. I thought on the way out to campus how to make my presentation. I decided to remain absolutely sober, not to crack a smile or give any encouragement or whatever that would cause the student body to think that we had been accredited. After the song was finished, I got up and began to speak. I told about how much we appreciated all that the faculty had done toward getting us ready for the Examining Committee, how the Student Body had cooperated, how the Board members had worked diligently, how everybody had worked so hard and so long in the effort to reach accreditation. I was giving it from a sort of negative point of view. I avoided saying we were not accredited, but that was the implication of my message. While I was waxing quite eloquently, I noticed in the front row that the girls were quietly weeping and wiping tears from their eyes because they thought sure that we had been denied accreditation.
