afternoon as the busses left on their schedules. One interesting event was in connection with the building campaign. I was a member of the committee, and I remember on one day the income was down, and we were at a rather low ebb. Everyone had been working rather hard and was rather weary. I sounded a pessimistic note to the effect that I wondered if there was any possibility that we were not in the Lord's will in going ahead with the campus. I'll never forget the look of consternation on Al Sander's face. Almost a note of terror in his eyes and in his voice as he said, "Mr. Sutherland, don't you let us down. You're the one who keeps us going. You dare not sound a discouraging note!" Well, I learned a lesson real fast and remembered from that time on that I was the "pepper upper" of the Central Committee, and when everyone else was discouraged, I had to find something of an optimistic note in order to keep us going. The Lord helped me in this very much.
