The theme, “Out of Many, One People: Biocultural Diversity across Borders” came to life as the conference welcomed two hundred participants

It was observed that trees and shrubs across the Campus were either dying or were affected by pests or diseases. In an effort to better manage the plant stock, the team at the Estate Management Department contacted the Rural Agricultural Development Agency (RADA) and Newport-Fersan Limited. The agronomist from RADA reported that the plants were being affected by the ensign scale pest and recommended that the plants be removed and the area treated. Through collaboration with Newport-Fersan, the EMD developed a special control regimen using various chemicals. It is hoped that by working with both organisations, the health of our plants can be restored and the loss to diseases will be significantly reduced.
