for their clients, as organizations have migrated to either a private or a public cloud. Moreover, cloud- as-a-service is enabling organizations to manage not only costs but also achieve better agility. As cloud-based solutions are budget-friendly and easy to deploy, it is highly preferred by Small and Medi- um-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Large Enterprise The adoption of customer engagement solutions in large enterprises, with more than 1,000 employ- ees, is higher as compared to small and medium enterprises, and this trend is expected to continue during the forecast period. Large enterprises deploy loyalty management solu- tions to improve customer retention rate, decrease customer attrition, boost customer re-purchase, and mostly enhance their customer experience and sat- isfaction. Large enterprises encompass distributed data related to customers scattered across different departments and are, hence, opting for robust loy- alty management solutions to manage the loyalty lifecycle of a wider customer base and gain valu- able insights from this data. Large enterprises are keen on investing in new and latest technologies such as AI, ML, and Big Data to automate the loyal- ty management process.
Customer loyalty is one of the most important fac- tor among organizations offering similar products or services, which clearly includes the printing and packaging markets. It provides a crucial product and brand differentiation for organizations when a differentiation through price becomes secondary. Organizations know that loyal customers would promote their brand to new customers by sharing their positive experience. Effective customer loyalty programs ensure cus- tomers engaged and there is successful utilization of products and services, according to the report. It increases customer retention, brand recall, and op- portunities to carry out business with them. Hence, organizations with an efficient loyalty management strategy can record growth in revenue and prof- itability. Currently, customers are opting for sim- ple, portable, and easy-to-use smart devices, such as smartphones; hence, mobile-based solutions for loyalty management are gaining traction. Cloud-Based Benefits Owing to an increasing awareness of the benefits of cloud-based solutions, the cloud deployment for loyalty management solution is expected to grow at a significant rage. The solution providers focus on the development of robust cloud-based solutions

Quad-C Invests In Catapult Print and Packaging Quad-C Management, a middle market private eq- uity firm, has closed on an investment in Catapult Print and Packaging, a printer and converter of lin- erless and pressure sensitive labels. Founded in 2018 and based in Orlando, Florida, Catapult provides specialty labels primarily serving the food and beverage, industrial and consumer end-markets. Family Owned A family-owned business since its 2018 inception, Catapult is led by CEO, Mark Cook, President, Lew- is Cook, and Chief Marketing Officer, Ashley Cook, all of whom will continue in that capacity. Deloitte Corporate Finance served as financial advisor to Catapult on the transaction and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher served as legal counsel to Quad-C. Terms of the investment were not disclosed. Chipotle Searches For More U.S.-Made Packaging Chipotle Mexican Grill is having “early stage” dis- cussions with U.S.-based packaging suppliers to
decrease its dependence on Asian companies be- cause of rising freight costs and ongoing supply chain issues. Chipotle CFO Jack Hartung said the chain might even put money behind a domestic packaging ven- dor to help build capacity in the United States. The news was first reported in Bloomberg, but Restau- rant Business confirmed the chain’s statements via a Chipotle spokeswoman. Recently, Hartung told investors that he hoped Chipotle was reaching an “inflection point” in pack- aging and other costs — but that he didn’t expect that to happen anytime soon. For the quarter ended March 31, Chipotle’s food, beverage and packaging costs were 31 percent of total sales, an increase of 100 basis points from the same period in 2021. Margins have been an ongoing pain for Chipotle, even as its sales have soared during the pandemic. Packaging continues to be central to Chipotle’s operations, with 42 percent of sales coming in through digital channels during the first quarter. The supply chain has been a source of much frus- tration for restaurants during the pandemic, causing ongoing shortages of packaging, equipment and a wide variety of food items.

Nestlé Works Toward 100% Recyclable Packaging Food giant Nestlé has announced that 97 percent of its product packaging in Italy is now recyclable — just a step away from its goal of 100 percent re- cyclable or reusable packaging by 2025. In Italy, the Swiss multinational achieved 100 percent recyclability for corrugated cardboard and glass, 98 percent recyclability for its paper pack- aging, 96 percent for rigid plastic, 92 percent for aluminum, and 77 percent for flexible plastic. Packaging Commitment The data comes from the 2022 edition of the Nestlé Sustainable Packaging Commitment: Road to 2025 report. Nestlé’s strategy consists of reducing the amount of packaging used and implementing new solutions to improve packaging quality and re- cycling systems. In achieving these goals, the company is working in four key strategic directions: research; reduction, reuse and recycling; collaboration; and information and education. In January, the group announced a €5 million in- vestment in the Italian venture capital Eureka! fund to boost research into innovative packaging solu- tions and improve the quality of collection and re- cycling processes. The first pilot project for the disposal of used plas- tic coffee capsules has been signed with Illycaffè and three companies that manage waste recycling in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Since 2018, Nestlé has been organizing ‘sustain- ability bars’ — training and refresher meetings for colleagues on sustainability-related projects devel- oped in Italy or abroad. To help consumers, in July 2021 Nestlé revamped Dove Lo Butto?, its digital platform for waste sep- aration, adding guidance on how to best interpret the minimum shelf life of products, thanks to its collaboration with Too Good To Go, as part of the Pact against Food Waste. A second project, called Km0 Cardoboard, aims to reduce the environmental impact of corrugat- ed cardboard packaging at the Buitoni factory in Benevento, where frozen pizzas are produced. Echaar Launches CI Flexo Press With Apex Sleeves Echaar Equipments introduced its first CI flexo printing press, the flexomaster HR-500, equipped with Apex GTT 2.0 anilox sleeves.

Fujifilm Sells Color-Logic Systems For Metallic Inks Fujifilm has agreed to sell Color-Logic’s system for producing metallic effects, using either digital toner or analogue printing processes. According to the company, whether using silver ink or toner on a white substrate, or printing with white ink or toner on a metallic substrate, the Col- or-Logic system takes into account the printing de- vice, inks, press profile and coatings unique to the printer. At the same time, it also provides designers, brands, printers and convertors with an accurate color communication and print embellishment sys- tem to work from, said Fujifilm. “Fujifilm offset, flexo and digital technologies al- ready enable customers to print a wide range of striking metallic effects — either through the use of metallic inks or by using white inks on metallic substrates,” said Manuel Schrutt, Head of Packag- ing, Fujifilm EME. “But with the Color-Logic Sys- tem, customers can now also create a pre-defined palette of metallic colors that can be installed into Adobe design apps. They then have the ability to print these palettes as color charts or swatch books, on their own press, to then give to their clients. This enables a 100 percent reliable color communication system for metallics which runs from the design stage of the process through to the printing itself.” Sun Chemical Launches SunConnect Sun Chemical has launched SunConnect, the latest complementary solution to SunColorBox, designed for the flexo corrugated printing market. SunConnect is a digital color communication tool that will reportedly enable converters to communi- cate color match request and quality control data on press directly from a smartphone, tablet, or desktop. SunConnect is said by the manufacturer to elim- inate the requirement of sending physical swatch- es back and forth between the customer and color center, helping to streamline the entire process. The SunConnect Digital Color Sensor has been developed by Sun Chemical to align with the exist- ing market reference device. Additionally, the SunConnect app can reportedly assist press operators in controlling colors, based on digital data, while helping production managers to identify opportunities for improvement and con- firm production quality.

Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or other transaction details, and the transaction is expected to be closed latest in Q3, 2022. The closing of the acquisition is subject to regula- tory approvals. AMC AG, founded in 1996 with roots going back to 1959, is a private company with long-term pri- vate owners. The company has two production sites – Kaltenkirchen and Hagenow – in Northern Ger- many. AMC’s business includes coating of pressure sensitive filmic labelstock and Viscom/Graphics materials under the Intercoat brand, and removable self-adhesive stationary products under the brand names Global Notes and Print Inform. The company employs more than 300 people, and the latest financial year sales of AMC AG was EUR 110 million. UPM Raflatac expects to accelerate AMC’s growth and realize significant synergies. Creation To Operate As Fujifilm Center of Excellence Creation Reprographics, a dedicated prepress partner to packaging and label printers, is opening its doors as a Centre of Excellence for Flenex-FW, a water-washable flexo plate technology developed by Fujifilm. After signing a new four-year agreement to supply Flenex-FW solvent-free plates, repro spe- cialist Creation is now inviting its customers, part- ners and peers across the flexo sector to see the plates in use at its headquarters in Daventry, UK. The technology, the business believes, heralds the future of sustainable flexographic supply chains. Matt Francklow, Managing Director at Creation, ex- plains: “When new technologies are introduced, it can often be difficult for printers to truly picture it in use day-to-day. However, that’s where the real advantages lie! We are strong advocates for wa- ter-washable plate technology, and we’re incredibly proud to offer Fujifilm’s fantastic Flenex-FW plates as part of our range. Serving printers across the FMCG, food and bev- erage sectors, Creation applies sustainable print in all its forms. As well as curating a range of sustain- able flexo plates, color management platforms and workflow digitalization solutions to reduce waste, the business champions color management services and fixed color palette (FCP) printing.
