A Transformational Summer Literacy Program

Too often summer school is a really hard place for kids to go , being indoors, feeling cut off from the fun of summer, trying to play “catch-up” or to do work that seems disconnected from the dreams in his or her mind. We created LitCamp and LitCamp en español as an antidote to the idea of summer school . LitCamp is a breakthrough four- to eight- week literacy program that combines innovative reading and writing lessons with an engaging interactive summer camp approach. It is more important than ever before that our students become lifelong readers, writers, and learners. The world is organized best for those who communicate well, who have the tools to seek out knowledge, who gain comfort from a good read, and who relate to other s. Using high-interest and culturally responsive Scholastic books and a strength- building curriculum , LitCamp and LitCamp en español take every student, of every reading level and language, on a profoundly life impacting literacy journey. Bunk Builder kits extend and enhance the LitCamp experience focusing on the acquisition and strengthening of critical word-reading and sentence-writing skills.
