Open Arms home at MAA Charlotte Ave
“It was good to have things that make you have a focus on something else other than her illness. It was just very comforting,” Andrea shared. “The apartment was close to grocery stores, restaurants, and the hospital. It was so convenient and safe. Really a good home away from home.” The Human Touch Beyond the physical comforts, the Brents were deeply touched by the kindness of the Open Arms staff and the MAA community. Maintenance technicians treated Andrea like a neighbor, promptly addressing even minor issues, while the leasing office staff went out of their way to ensure her experience was smooth and welcoming. "When I opened the door, it was like home. Everything was there — bed linens, extra toiletries, cleaning supplies, everything needed for cooking, furniture for when my husband and other daughter visited, and even accommodations for our dog, who joined us multiple times. It was everything we needed to feel comfortable, and everyone was incredibly nice.” From March to July, the Open Arms apartment at the MAA Charlotte Ave community became home. Despite the intensity of the situation, small moments of normalcy brought comfort. Andrea and Kierstyn spent quiet mornings on the patio breathing the fresh air, watching people at the pool, and even watched fireworks from the parking garage on the Fourth of July.
