INDIAN RIVER CLUB NEWSLETTER February 2025

BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Growth, Membership, and Community

Dear Members,

As we transition from a "chilly" January to a hopefully warmer February, we continue to see progress with the many changes that have taken place at the Club. Bob Poore has come in and is already making a significant impact on the operations of the Club. He is laser focused on developing a team to lead our Club into the future. We are already seeing his influence in many of our departments. Our Membership continues to grow which is a key ingredient to the long-term success of the Club. Bob, and the Facilities Committee, continue to make strides with the renovation project for the Clubhouse. The removal of a substantial amount of the palmettos, the creation of the expanded back practice tee, and the enlarging of the parking area for the carts are some of the new improvements that we believe are enhancing the membership experience. The Board understands this is just the beginning of a long-term process of elevating Indian River Golf Club to a level we can all be proud of. This journey is just beginning

Message from our GM

Dear Members, As I complete my second month as your General Manager, I’m deeply grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received from each of you. My experience thus far has validated my decision to set a new course in my professional life and I am honored to be your GM. In January, we had our latest edition of the Member- Member Tournament, and it was a tremendous success, highlighting the exceptional spirit of our club. I want to recognize our extraordinary team, whose dedication and expertise make every club experience outstanding. We're intensely focused on course conditions, particularly our fairways. We understand their critical importance to your game and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of turf quality and playability. If you have any questions or concerns after reading the memo Paul and I sent recently, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. We continue planning regarding the trees and landscaping near our clubhouse. While this is part of our ongoing efforts to protect the clubhouse's structural integrity, we are meticulously ensuring compliance with the County’s regulations and preserving the natural beauty of our club. As the plan is finalized and before we begin any work, we will provide more detailed communication. In the meantime, please watch this video which highlights the challenges we have with water flow caused by tree materials in the gutters. The water intrusion is leading to costly repairs to our porch flooring and columns.

I also want to acknowledge ongoing discussions with our surrounding community association. While challenges exist, I am personally committed to navigating these interactions with integrity and professionalism and acting in the best interest of our members.

Hit them straight and have fun!!

Sincerely, Bob Poore General Manager

Bruce joins the committee with an extensive background in both finance and IT and previously held finance and board positions at two other private clubs. The committee worked closely this month with the general manager and controller to re-forecast expected revenues and expenses for the remainder of our club year. The committee's focus will continue to be on maximizing member experience while at the same time ensuring the Club's financial future. Committee Update Finance Committee

Marketing Committee

Capital Project Committee The BOG Facilities Committee has been working with our Architect and design firms to finalize the design of the new bar area, kitchen and dining room. We are getting close, and should be ready to go out for bids and permits in late February, early March. In February, Indian River Club will be spotlighted in Vero Beach Magazine, Links Magazine, and Golf Digest! Additionally, we have kicked off our digital eblast campaign. Our club will also be showcased on Links and Golf Digest’s websites to attract more membership inquiries. We recently introduced a new format for the IRC Newsletter and hope you found it informative. We will keep you updated on the latest happenings at IRC every month. The club staff, Bob, Ian, Chef Mike and Leah have all been very helpful in assuring what is designed is functional and meets their needs, while enabling better service. Thanks to our entire team, as we try to meet our target dates and goals. Our plans have us moving the Pro Shop into a trailer by the pool building shortly after the GT.

House Committee

This January the main goal of the house committee was to interview interior decorators to assist in the renovation of the Grill room, dining room & golf shop. The facility committee is currently working to the finalize a contract with one of the candidates. The House Committee is continuing its goal of enhancing the appearance of the clubhouse in small, but subtle ways. You may have noticed some plants & vases in the clubhouse & a refresh of bathroom accessories in the ladies bathroom at the pool house on #10. The committee along with Rosemarie Johnson & Linda Braun tackled the cart barn with a big & dirty job…a clean out that was long overdue.

After a successful, if chilly, Men’s Member/Member tournament we are looking forward to a full schedule of both men’s and lady’s events in February. The month’s highlights are the Ladies’ Member/Member tournament, as well as both the Men’s and Lady’s Presidents cup. Joe Mastrangelo and his volunteers have also been busy getting ready for the GT in March, including many upgrades to both the Men’s and Spouse’s agendas. Committee Update Golf Committee

Greens Committee Mark Soufleris has provided a landscape plan for the area between the fifteenth tee complex and Carolina Circle. The committee is reviewing options to safely expand and improve our practice areas, and while the ryegrass overseeding and handmowing of the tees have received positive feedback from the membership, a final recommendation on whether to expand the program remains several months away.

The recent overseeding of our tees with ryegrass has proven to be very successful, resulting in excellent turf conditions for your enjoyment and a vibrant green look. Looking ahead, we will be overseeding our Back Range Tee from February 24th to March 6th , during which it will be closed. This will ensure optimal conditions for the remainder of our peak season. Over the next few weeks, you will see green divot mix on the course. We are going to try this out and see if it works better for us. Please let us know what you think. Finally, we understand the need to improve the condition of our fairways, as they are not consistently meeting the standards we uphold at Indian River Club. Recently we shared a communication that provides more details on how we are addressing this issue. Please take the time to review the attached PDF, so you are well informed.
