Amalfi Coast The Amalfi Coast is located within easy reach of Na- ples and is a popular destination for summer holidays, with its turquoise coves and cliffside towns attracting tourists from all over the world. The capital of this ar- ea, which stretches from Sorrento to Vietri sul Mare, is the town of Amalfi itself, which has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List thanks to its en- chanting beauty, distinctive architecture and histori- cal importance. It is located on the cliffs of the Lattari Mountains, while all the settlements along this stetch of coastline are connected to one another and accessed via a narrow, winding road. The most popular settlement is certainly the village of Positano. With house façades in vivid colours, tranquil sparkling waters, a pebble beach, the dome of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and numerous steep staircases that connect the houses... This place is extremely popu- lar as a tourist destination and those with deep pockets who are seeking glamour spend their summers here. Capri The closest island to the Amalfi Coast is Capri, while it’s also just an hour’s boat ride away from Naples. Be prepared for it to capture your heart and enchant your eyes with its colours. The contrast of the white that dominates the entire island and brightly coloured flow- ers, lemon trees, olive groves, turquoise waters, pic- turesque winding streets, exquisite gardens, isolated beaches... This is an earthly paradise that has become a tourist mecca. Despite its modest size, this small island is known the world over. Adored by Roman rulers, it is no coin- cidence that Emperor Augustus turned it into his pri- vate property, while Tiberius built a villa here where he spent the last years of his life. Apart from its mild Mediterranean climate, you will also be enchanted by the feeling that everyone is welcome here. The island is free of cars and the only means of transport is represented by minibuses and the Capri funicular, which gives special charm to this luxury resort. If there’s one must-see sight on the is- land of Capri that’s the stunning Blue Grotto, known locally as the Grotta Azzurra. This natural cave has a second underwater cavity that allows sunlight to shine through the water from below. This magical illuminat- ing effect creates an intense blue glow that has to be seen to be believed. The heart of Capri is represented by its small cen- tral square – the always fashionable, always crowded Pi- azzetta di Capri, which has been dubbed “the world’s living room” and where the gardens of local cafés are always packed with American millionaires, celebrities and ordinary people sitting side by side.
Najpopularniji je svakako Pozitano. Žive boje na fa- sadama kuća, svetlucavo mirno more, šljunkovita pla- ža, kupola Crkve Santa Marija Asunta i brojna strma stepeništa koja međusobno povezuju kuće… Mesto je izuzetno popularna turistička destinacija i ovde letu- ju oni željni glamura, dubokog džepa. Kapri Sa Amalfi obale najbliže ostrvo je Kapri, mada je i od Napulja udaljeno samo sat vremena vožnje bro- dom. Spremite se, zarobiće vam i srce i oči svojim bo- jama. Kontrast bele, koja dominira celim ostrvom, i cvetova jarkih boja, limunovog drveta, maslina, tir- kiznoplavog mora, živopisne krivudave uličice, pre- divni vrtovi, rasute plaže… Zemaljski raj, koji je po- stao turistička Meka. Malo ostrvo, uprkos svojoj skromnoj veličini, po- znato je širom sveta. Voleli su ga rimski vladari i nije slučajno što ga je car Avgust pretvorio u svoje privat- no vlasništvo, a Tiberije je ovde sagradio vilu u kojoj je proveo poslednje godine svog života. Osim blage mediteranske klime, očaraće vas ose- ćaj da je svako dobrodošao. Na ostrvu nema automo- bila, jedino prevozno sredstvo su mali autobusi i žiča- ra funikulare, što daje posebnu draž ovom luksuznom odmaralištu. Ako postoji jedan prizor koji morate videti na ostrvu Kapri, to je zadivljujuca Plava pecina, lokal- no poznata kao Grota azura. Prirodna pecina ima dru- go pecinsko ušce ispod površine koje emituje sunčevu svetlost odozdo. Ovaj magični efekat stvara intenzivan plavi sjaj koji morate da vidite da biste mu poverovali. Srce Kaprija je njegov mali centralni trg – uvek mo- derna, uvek prepuna Pjaceta, koji se naziva dnevna so- ba sveta gde jedni pored drugih uvek u prepunoj bašti lokalnog kafea, sede američki milioneri, poznate lič- nosti i obični ljudi.
