RESPEC and PDC Engineers Union: Better Mining Services for Alaska
Alaska’s mines have some of the largest productions worldwide and some of the largest employers statewide.

We’re talking about RESPEC who acquired PDC Engineers — the folks who have provided infrastructure services to every major mine in Alaska, from Usibelli to Ft. Knox. During that time, PDC Engineers earned Alaskans’ trust and came to understand what our mining industry requires and what it offers, here in our own backyard. Several years ago, PDC Engineers’ President, Matt Emerson, met Todd Kenner, RESPEC’s Chief Executive Officer and President. Matt discovered that RESPEC
companies’ goals, markets, and teams and soon realized the opportunities afforded both PDC Engineers and RESPEC, if they united. They understood an acquisition would be a big decision, but Matt and Todd believed in their companies’ business and cultural compatibility. In May 2020, PDC Engineers voted to be acquired by RESPEC. They were excited to spread the word about their expanded services and products, focusing heavily on what it means
got their start in the mining industry more than half a century ago and learned that their first contract allowed staff to research high-level nuclear waste disposal in underground mines. Todd appreciated PDC Engineers’ infrastructure expertise, especially how it centered around extreme, cold-weather solutions.
