Profiles in Mining: Oxford Assaying & Refining Corp.
Alaskans serving Alaskans through integrity, honesty
SPECIAL TO THE ALASKA MINER Oxford Assaying & Refining Corp. has been serving Alas - kan miners and investors for over 40 years, originally found- ed by Ralph Pollak in January of 1980 with a core mission to offer Alaskan miners a local placer gold refiner. Before Oxford, Alaskan miners would have to send their gold to the Lower 48, taking a risk on how larger companies may handle their gold. Oxford takes pride in the many per- sonal relationships formed with miners and investors across the great State of Alaska and beyond. Oxford Assaying & Refining Corp. is a fully Alaskan-owned and operated Corporation with our main office in Anchorage, a satellite office in Fairbanks, and a seasonal placer gold in - take office in Nome. With the leadership of Toni Goodrich from 1996 until her unexpected death in 2018, Oxford grew into what it is to- day. Toni’s passion of serving the placer miners and investors across the state with the service, value, honesty and integrity that Alaskans count on continues today. Toni’s widower Ryan Goodrich (President and COO) and Gene Pool (Vice President & CEO) strive to carry on Toni’s legacy for many more gener- ations of Alaskan miners and investors. Pool is a multigenerational Alaskan with a vast under- standing of how unique the state is, and the challenges Alas- kan miners face daily. Gene has been with Oxford for nearly 20 years and is looking forward to the challenges of the next 20 years. The team at Oxford is continually fine-tuning its opera - tion to take advantage of advances in technology and other systems used by refineries worldwide. Taking advantage of these advances allows Oxford to provide Alaskan miners with an unparalleled level of service and the best returns on their hard work. Oxford works directly with organizations such as the Alas- ka Miners Association, Resource Development Council, the Alaska Support Industry Alliance, Alaska Resource Educa- tion, Women in Mining, and various other non-profits that support mining and resource development across our state. Working together with these associations ensures Alaskan miners will have the opportunity to continue production long into the future. Through collaboration with AMA and the organized mining districts across the state, including Circle/Central, Fairbanks, Fortymile, Haines, Juneau, Koyukuk, Livengood-Tolovana, Nome, and Yentna districts, Oxford has a vast understanding of the unique challenges each community faces and how to overcome them. Beyond supporting organizations related to mining and resource development, Oxford supports local nonprofits
throughout many communities in Alaska, including but not limited to Covenant House of Alaska, Beans Cafe, Catholic So - cial Services, Challenge Alaska, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, and Nome Arts Council, as well as local sports teams for chil- dren in communities throughout the state. Oxford believes that building a solid foundation in Alas- kan communities will ensure future generations of Alaskans’ continued success here at home in the great State of Alaska.
