Beldocs from 10 th to 17 th May DOCUMENTARIES
The 16 th edition of Beldocs, one of the top festivals of docu- mentary film in this part of Europe, will take place from 10 th to 17 th May at seven Belgrade locations and will present more than 90 premiere screenings of contemporary documentaries realised within the scope of 12 programming units. As with previous editions, this year’s selection will have a spe- cial focus on fresh expressions of new authors and visually im- pressive films that serve to prove that the documentary film format is really cinematography for the cinemas of the future. Beldocs is this year hosting the prestigious international Eurim- ages’ Audentia Award for the best female director, which is be- ing awarded for the eighth time this year and was founded by the Eurimages cultural support fund of the Council of Europe with the aim of promoting gender equality in the film industry. We recommend River , directed by Jennifer Peedom and Joseph Nizeti, is a mu- sical odyssey exploring the exceptional relationship between people and rivers. River leads its audience on a journey through space and time, spanning six continents, and relies on excep- tional contemporary photography. The film is narrated by fa- mous actor Willem Dafoe. Lynch/Oz by Alexandre O. Philippe. This documentary ex- plores the enigmatic symbiosis between the greatest fairy tale of American pop culture – Victor Fleming's The Wizard of Oz – and the work of David Lynch, as the greatest modern surreal- ist filmmaker. Music for Black Pigeons , directed by Jørgen Leth and Andre- as Koefoed, poses existential questions to influential New York jazz musicians: how does it feel to play and what does it mean to listen? What is it like to be a human being and to spend your entire life attempting to use sounds to express something?
Beldocs 10–17. maja DOKUMENTARCI
filmskoj industriji.
