dovedeno u pitanje.

driving a fire engine, because that re- quires a special license that none of the actors had. But Ferraris has one. TV police reform The 2020 deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, which resulted from the use of excessive force by po- lice officers in Minnesota and Ken- tucky respectively, led to a wave of in- ternational civil rights protests that placed the entertainment industry in a very unenviable position. Ameri- can TV shows have glorified the work

of the police for decades, but now that had all suddenly been brought into question. Numerous series and shows dealing with police work that were being aired at the time were pulled from programming sched- ules overnight. However, Chicago P.D. opted to take a different route. The series publicly supported calls for police reform and the #BlackLives- Matter movement. Interestingly, it was the show’s actors who compelled their bosses to address problems re- lated to police work.

Jason Beghe (Chicago P.d.) I came to love Chicago through its police force

Veteran Hollywood TV actor Jason Beghe (61), who gained fame in the ‘90s for the role of Lieutenant Jef- frey Lindley in the Aaron Spelling series Melrose Place, has been best known around the world over the last nine years for playing another uniformed hero. The character in question is that of Sergeant Hank Voight, head of the Chicago Police Department Intelligence Unit in the hit series Chicago P.D., which has been broadcast since 2014, and two years ago – thanks to the show’s great success – it was relaunched for as many as three new seasons. Here in Serbia, we watch this series avidly on the Fox Crime channel, and here Beghe reveals that this series didn’t mark his first en- counter with Chicago. - Anyone who watched TV shows during the ‘90s cer- tainly remembers Chicago Hope. Although I had no contact with medicine at the time, I was already por- traying the role of hospital electrician Danny Blaines, which was great preparation for what awaited me in 2014. How did Hank and Jason start getting to know ea- ch other? - We will soon mark an entire decade that the two of us have known one another, and it still isn’t clear to me whether there’s more Jason in Hank or more of him in me. We have long since surpassed the profession- al level. We are today each other’s psychotherapists [laughs]. How did you find the move to Chicago? - I actually only spent part of my life in New York. My permanent residence is in Los Angeles, and I primari- ly got acquainted with Chicago through its institutions. During the shooting of the series, I did a lot of research on the Chicago police force because of the role, and it was through this that I came to know and love this city.

– Zapravo, samo deo života sam proveo u Njujorku. Moje stalno prebivalište je Los Anđeles, a Čikago sam prvenstveno upoznao kroz njegove institucije. To- kom snimanja serije sam zbog uloge mnogo istraživao čikašku policiju i kroz nju upoznao i zavoleo ovaj grad.
