Art on T-shirts Atelier pictures walk the streets

Noth- ing is changed by the way it is pre- sented, it’s all us,” says Velimanović, adding: “The three of us are here for now, but we will soon be joined by other artists, some who are already known and some young ones whose time is yet to come. Exer Art [exer is the anglicised spelling of the Ser- bian word ekser, meaning nail] is a platform that supports artists and enables art to be a part of everyday life. Practically, you can don an art- work that will thus begin living a new and different life, and that’s very exciting when you see how your painting from the atelier is walking down the street.” The exer-art.com platform strives to support local artists in an unconventional way, by familiar- ising people who don’t have a habit of visiting galleries with their work. In its first collection, Exer Art pre- sents 18 different motifs on spe- cially tailored T-shirts made from the highest quality cotton, and with exceptionally high-quality printing. “We want our Exer brand to break taboos and boundaries. We want to bring colour to life and al- low creativity to flow freely. We want our t-shirts to be conversation start- ers! And, no, this is in no way pop art, it’s a different style of art. I can paint on a T-shirt, on a curtain, on a board, on a wall, and that is in no way less art; it is no less my art than if I paint it on canvas. An idea on a cotton T-shirt and an idea re- alised on a cloth canvas is exact- ly the same, born of the same life experience,” explains Velimanović.

They are “Exer”, a group of contemporary artists and designers , friends who share the idea that art should be part of everyday life. This notion prompted them to decide to create
