READ AND FOLLOW ALL MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS IN OWNER’S MANUAL BEFORE INSTALLING OR OPERATING. THIS EQUIPMENT MAY ONLY BE INSTALLED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL. IT IS UNSAFE TO LOAD COAL WITHIN 2 INCHES OF THE TOP OF THE FIREBRICK. LOAD FUEL CAREFULLY OR DAMAGE MAY RESULT. DO NOT CONNECT THIS UNIT TO A FLUE SERVING ANOTHER APPLIANCE. DO NOT RELOCATE OR BYPASS ANY OF THE SAFETY CONTROLS IN THE ORIGINAL FURNACE INSTALLATION. This unit must be connected to a Class “A” masonry or manufactured Class “A” all fuel chimney having a minimum of six inches (6”). The draft at the flue collar should be between .04 water column inches and .08 water column inches. It must be installed within a system that provides .2 water column inches of static pressure on the distribution blower. This unit is to be used as a central furnace, or in conjunction with a listed electric, gas or oil fired furnace. If this unit is used as an add-on furnace, it is to be used with primary oil, gas, or electric furnaces having the same or greater input rating as the add-on unit. See the conventional furnace’s nameplate for any restrictions. THIS UNIT MAY BE CONNECTED TO DUCTWORK THAT IS STILL CONNECTED TO ANOTHER FURNACE. DO NOT CONNECT DUCTWORK SO THAT A REVERSE AIR FLOW IS POSSIBLE. This unit can be fueled by wood, Anthracite coal, or Bituminous coal. Do not operate with fuel or ash doors open. Wait ten seconds on first latch of fuel door before proceeding to the fully ajar position. Do not use wet, unseasoned, or highly resined wood. Under certain conditions of use creosote may accumulate rapidly, therefore inspect and clean flue pipe and chimney regularly. THE HEAT EXCHANGER, FLUE PIPE, CHIMNEY, AND DRAFT INDUCER MUST BE IN GOOD CONDITION AND CLEANED REGULARLY TO REMOVE ACCUMULATED CREOSOTE AND ASH. CLEAN AT THE END OF THE HEATING SEASON TO MINIMIZE CORROSION DURING SUMMER MONTHS. OPERATE THE OIL, GAS, OR ELECTRIC FURNACE PERIODICALLY TO ENSURE IT WILL OPERATE SATISFACTORILY WHEN NEEDED. Hot while in operation. Do not touch. Contact may cause burns. Keep children, clothing, and furniture away. Due to the risk of uncontrollable fire or explosion do not attempt to use gasoline, flammable liquids, refuse oil, or garbage as a combustion agent. DO NOT USE CHEMICALS OR FLUIDS TO START THE FIRE. Do not store furnace fuel, flammable liquids, or other combustibles within marked installation clearances. This unit must be installed on a noncombustible floor. DISCONNECT APPLIANCES FROM THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY TO BOTH FURNACES BEFORE SERVICING UNIT. 115 Volts, 60Hz, one phase, less than 12 Amps. Use all copper conductors of at least 14 gauge having a 105 degree Celsius or higher rating. Risk of fire – Do not operate with flue draft exceeding .08 water column inches (19.9 Pa.). Do not operate with fuel loading or ash removal doors open. Do not store fuel or other combustible material within marked installation clearances. Inspect and clean flues and chimney regularly. In case of run-away fire, close spin draft, close slide cover on draft blower, and pull out bypass rod. Hot surfaces. Keep children away. Do not touch during operation.

During loss of electrical power do not add any more fuel to the firebox, slide out and remove air filter; close slide cover on draft motor; close spin draft on ash door. When power resumes, check heat dump fuse link and replace if necessary, open spin draft on ash door to normal setting, adjust slide cover on draft motor to normal setting, re-install air filter and resume normal operation. MAINTAIN COMBUSTION AIR SUPPLY TO BOTH FURNACES. AIR STARVATION IS DANGEROUS. PROVIDE A FRESH AIR OPENING AT LEAST 2,000 sq. mm (3 sq. inches). The plenum size of the furnace must not be reduced to less than 10 inches round or 79 square inches, and must provide a minimum of 18 inches between the top of the furnace and the main trunk connection. Air filter should be checked and replaced regularly. To replace the air filter located at the rear of the unit, slide-out the dirty filter and slide-in a replacement filter.
